Chorley Photographic Society member and former President of the L&CPU Gordon Jenkins became President of the PAGB at its AGM on Saturday 8th of April
‘I am sure that everyone in the L&CPU along with other federations within the PAGB would like to join with me in extending our congratulations and best wishes to Gordon Jenkins ,from the L&CPU ,in his term as the President of the PAGB.’ said Garth Tighe, current President of the L&CPU.
You can see Gordon’s first few minutes in office in the video below.
Be advised that L&CPU treasurer Gordon Jenkins is currently in an enfeebled state of mind due to a virus condition, and was heard to utter the following from his sick-bed:
“Tell Ashton Under Lyne Ps, Alsager CC, Bebington PS, Burnley CC, Great Harwood CC, Heswall PS, Holmes Chapel Ps and Prestwich CC I will forgo the late penalty clause if receive a cheque for the full amount due by Friday 12th January, after that the Penalty clause will be invoked.”
You are probably aware that the PAGB have taken a decision to adopt a new standard resolution of 1600pixel by 1200 pixel for images entered into competition from July 2017.
At a recent L&CPU, executive committee meeting it was decided that we should also adopt and phase in this new resolution beginning with the next Annual Club Competition in March 2017.
We will continue to accept the 1400 x1050 format in L&CPU Competitions, along with smaller image sizes. However, we strongly suggest that you do not submit image sizes smaller than 1400 x 1050, as they will be significantly smaller when projected onto the screen.
This proposed move however does not mean your club need to upgrade your projector, as the increase in pixel size is only a requirement of entry into L&CPU & PAGB competitions.
Further reading on this subject can be seen in the PAGB e-news issues 161 extra April2016 and 169 August 2016.
Chorley P.S. win the 2016 Knockout competition held on 19th November Preston P.S. and The Evolve Group came equal second.
Martin Jump from Preston P.S won best in competition with his image entitled Starling Squabble.
45 clubs entered this year’s competition making this the largest entry ever.
Having so many clubs in the mix, we could only use the first four images from each club; this gave 180 images in total put before the judge.
