Stockport Photographic Society is holding its 125th exhibition of members’ work at Stockport War Memorial Art Gallery. Entrance to the exhibition is free, please come and visit. During this time, we will also be holding several free events to help improve your photography, from smartphone to professional.

The exhibition comprises framed prints and digital projected images exhibited on a continuous rolling display. More details at www.stockportps.org.uk/Exhibition

Chorley Photographic Society member and former President of the L&CPU Gordon Jenkins became President of the PAGB at its AGM on Saturday 8th of April

‘I am sure that everyone in the L&CPU along with other federations within the PAGB would like to join with me in extending our congratulations and best wishes to Gordon Jenkins ,from the L&CPU ,in his term as the President of the PAGB.’ said Garth Tighe, current President of the L&CPU.

I would like to advise you that we will be holding our Easter photographic exhibition from the 15th to the 27th April inside Bacup Library, Admission is FREE so please come along and say hello, and view a wide array of amazing images taken by our members, plus see the fantastic Coco-nutters performing in the Town Centre – a sight NOT too be missed thats a fact!!

After the success of the Annual Club Competition.  I now have pleasure in launching our next competition the L&CPU will be running. Over the weekend of 6th/7th May, we will be holding The Annual Individual Print and Projected Image and The Young Photographer of the Year Competitions.

Attached are the Rules and all the information you will need to enter the competition. I sincerely hope you can and will encourage as many of your members to participate in this prestigious competition.

Chorley PS take top spot in Annual Clubs Competition!

This afternoon, Chorley PS took top spot in the 2017 Annual Clubs Competition. Joint second place went to the Evolve Group and Warrington PS (who were mentioned many times throughout the competition!).

The entire competition ran rapidly and smoothly, thanks to the software systems produced by Adrian Lines, and the efforts of the ‘back room boys’ under the guidance of competition secretary Bob Robinson.

DPI 2017 – Waiting for the results

Today saw the DPI section of the Annual Clubs Competition won by Wigan 10. In the morning, Chorley PS took the lead, coming first in the open colour section, but after the morning break, Wigan 10 hit back, winning the mono section.

In the afternoon, Wigan 10 put on a superb display of nature images, with the result that they beat Chorley into second place with a score of 308 points to Chorley’s 304. Third place fell to North Cheshire PS on 290 points.

There was a good attendance of well over 60 people from 14 L&CPU clubs who, along with the President of the L&CPU, Garth Tighe, enjoyed seeing all the 36 sequences that had been entered into the competition.

Chorley P.S. win the 2016 Knockout competition held on 19th November Preston P.S. and The Evolve Group came equal second.

Martin Jump from Preston P.S won best in competition with his image entitled Starling Squabble.

45 clubs entered this year’s competition making this the largest entry ever.

Having so many clubs in the mix, we could only use the first four images from each club; this gave 180 images in total put before the judge.

Wigan 10 win PAGB 20th Inter-club Print Championship

pagb_logo_smallToday the PAGB held it’s 20th Inter-club Print Championship in Ormskirk and I am happy to report that all our L&CPU representatives performed well with Wigan 10 Foto Club finishing worthy winners just ahead of Dumfries. Robert Millin from Wigan 10 said “We are very pleased to have represented the L&CPU bringing home the trophy and adding it to the PAGB PDI Inter-club trophy that we won in July. It is a stunning achievement to hold both of the PAGB’s major club trophies at the same time and we are proud of that fact for both our club and our federation.”
