Frodsham & District PS presents: Erik Malm, ‘Using Intentional Camera Movement to Make Music with Images

Erik Malm is internationally recognised for his distinctive approach to intentional camera movement (ICM) – a practice he treats not as an experiment in blur, but as a performed translation of time, perception and musical structure. A trained musician and conductor, Malm creates each photograph as a single, real‑time exposure in which movement becomes the instrument and the image becomes the composition.

Frodsham & District Photographic Society invite you to this online talk on 23 November, where Erik will share how he shapes gesture, rhythm and harmonic flow into visual form, revealing how tempo, intensity and phrasing can guide the camera just as they guide music. He’ll discuss his controlled motion techniques, his philosophy of working with internal rather than external cues, and the creative possibilities that emerge when photography becomes a performance rather than a recording.

Whether you’re curious about ICM, exploring abstract or expressive photography, or simply looking to expand your creative toolkit, this session offers a rare insight into a unique, time‑driven practice.

Tickets cost £6 and are available from https://Frodsham.eventbrite.co.uk.
