The Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB) runs an awards system (APM) available to club photographers in clubs belonging to their Federation. There are usually two adjudications each year where the PAGB view and decide whether an image (print or digital) meets the standard set for a particular level – see below. Successful applicants are able to use the designated letters (e.g. CPAGB) after their name.
On Sunday 17th January 2027, the L&CPU will run a mock APM which will be held at St Marys Parish Centre, 105 Devonshire Rd, Chorley PR7 2BY, home to Chorley PS. The mock will be run under full PAGB rules and adjudicators will be under orders to treat the day as a ‘full on’ real APM.
Already there are a number of club members registered with the PAGB who may be attending; however, any club member is welcome to attend and get an idea of the possible success of their work. As many know, the PAGB has 5 levels awarded for Photographic Merit:
BPAGB, regarded as good club photography. Applicants will need to supply 7 mounted prints (50×40 cm). This award is prints only.
CPAGB, the next step up from BPAGB. Applicants will need to supply 10 mounted prints OR 10 PDIs sized 1600 x 1200 px.
DPAGB, 15 prints OR PDIs required. For this level, applicants will have had success at National and International Salons.
There are two further levels; club photographers looking at these levels will know the sorts of standards required.

The format of the day will be set nearer the time, but you will need to drop off prints at 10am for a 10:30 start. Whilst tea and coffee will be available, you will need to bring lunch with you, or find somewhere in Chorley. The day will hopefully finish around 4pm.
Tickets and Booking
Tickets are now available for the mock APM. The cost for the day is £10 and tickets are limited. Visitors, supporters and observers also pay £10 on the door (but please let me know if you are coming so I can organise the room).
Once booked, I will forward details for uploading your images (both for PDI entries and prints).
To book, visit the L&CPU website and click on the ‘The Portal’ dropdown. If you are already registered on the Portal then use your details. Otherwise you will need to register. You will find it under Services.
