Catalyst Science Discovery Centre and Museum in Widnes will be displaying the work of several Frodsham & District Photographic Society members for four weeks from Monday 2 June. The exhibition, “Now and Then of Halton’s Transport”, explores the evolution of local transport systems by comparing historical photographs archived in the museum with contemporary images captured in 2024–25 from the exact same locations.
The exhibition near the museum entrance features twenty A2 monochrome prints by members, displayed alongside twenty A4 prints of archived museum photographs. In addition to the print exhibition, a digital presentation will run continuously on a TV in the same area, displaying further images from participating photographers. This presentation includes both monochrome and colour photographs.
The Catalyst is well worth a visit in its own right, but you can visit the exhibition only, free of charge, by checking in at the front desk upon arrival.
Catalyst is open Tuesday through Friday, 10 am to 5 pm, and Saturday through Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm. It is located at Mersey Road, Widnes, WA8 0DF. It has a large free car park and a café with riverside views and a view of the Mersey Gateway bridge.
