Tonight, Chorley PS won the North Cheshire Photographic Society Print Challenge in a battle with sixteen other clubs. Will Stead – President of Chorley – said, “A great night and another amazing win for the members of Chorley PS. Thanks to Jane (Lines – Chorley’s External Competition Secretary) for all her hard work in sorting the entries. Looking forward to tonight and the PDI knockout.” Jane Lines remarked “Don’t hold your breath ………it’s another clubs time to shine!!!”
Congratulations go to Wigan 10 Foto Club, who have won the Maurice Dorikens Trophy in 2015 for being the most consistent club in the last five years in the FIAP World Cup for Clubs. In this period, they have won the World Cup three times.
Bury PS Annual Poster 2016
Bury Photographic Society are holding their Annual Exhibition at the Art Gallery in Bury in March. The Art Gallery is on Moss Street , Bury BL9 0DR and is open on Tuesdays to Saturdays inclusive from 10-00am.
Car parking is by pay and display on street. There is a very good café in the Fusiliers Museum which is directly opposite the Art Gallery but there is also one due to open in the gallery from 4th April onwards.

Chorley PS use German tourist tactics to secure the best seats!
Today was the first day of the Annual Club Print & Projected Image Competition 2016. By the end of day, Chorley Photographic Society were at the top of the table, leading rival club Wigan 10 by 12 points. Chorley have 323 points, with Wigan 10 on 311, and Alsager CC on 288.
Chorley began the day with a covert operation to secure the best seats, placing their scarves on them, before retiring to the cafe until the hall was officially opened!
Lady with Goose – Gordon-Jenkins
Former L&CPU President Gordon Jenkins took the Best Portrait Individual Award in the 2016 GB Open Cup last week, and his photo subsequently was chosen for the front cover of e-news – the newsletter of the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain issued today.
We’d have liked to include a quote from Gordon, but he’s currently somewhere in South America – a favourite haunt of L&CPU treasurers, I’m told. 😉

The PAGB GB Cup Competition was run this weekend in Dumfries. We’re pleased to report that Chorley Photographic Society came joint first in the Nature Section and won the Open Section outright. L&CPU President John Smith said “It is excellent news; Chorley are now one of the top clubs in the country and giving our traditional stars, Wigan 10 FC, some competition. Congratulations to Chorley and to all the L & C clubs who entered.”
Margaret Suddaby
Mrs Margaret Suddaby LRPS CPAGB, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on February 7th, 2016. Margaret was an Honorary Life Member of Southport Photographic Society, a society she served tirelessly and in many capacities before she, and her husband, Keith, relocated to Morpeth, Northumberland to be closer to their immediate family.
