PAGB AWARDS

Revised and updated 27/12/09.

Fancy being CPAGB? The PAGB distinctions or awards are gaining in popularity. They are held for life and there is nothing more to pay after your initial assessment costs. The inclusion of PDI assessments now will make entry costs cheaper but a C in prints for example would be about £100 all in (£60 registration and the rest in printing and postage). You can attend the assessment and in November 2010 the cost of that may be the cheapest it is ever to be because the L&CPU are hosting it. You get one free ticket - further ones can be purchased and attending will be of enormous help to those being asessed in the future.

What level to apply for? C is good club level, D is acceptances in national competition and M is the highest standard. You could go for D straight away if you have already been successful in nationals or are working at that level, otherwise you must work through the levels. You can use the same material when you apply for a higher level.

Another good feature is that all your images are assessed separately as if they are in a competition - you do not have to present a coherent panel of work.

Now, you have to "pre-qualify". It is up to your Federation to decide what this means - for the L&CPU it is that you have entered the Annuals for two years for C, three for D. Applications are made first to our Comp Sec, Henry Mullarkey, you can write to him (see Directory - your club secretary has one) or email, giving your club name (and address of course) and he will check that you qualify amd send you a form to complete and send on to the PAGB.

Check that your club knows about "pre-qualifying".

There are AV awards too!

For full details look at the PAGB website, under PAGB Merit Awards.

Talk to your fellow club members who hold the awards - some clubs have self-help groups about this. We are hoping to incorporate some help into a future L&CPU event.

Newsletters 14 & 15and 21 above have information to help too.

ACT QUICKLY - These awards are so popular that entry lists fill months before the official closure date.
