EARLIER NEWS - Friday 21st May -Whalley Primary School are planning a whole week (beginning 12th July) devoted to the history of photography and cinema and are looking for someone who could go into the school for a day and spend time with each of the four infant classes - please email Drew Spencer.
The announcement above drew two responses and KEN GEDDES was finally the one who helped them out. He has emailed to say...I gave four x 45 minute talks last Thursday (15th July) to four different age groups on the early history of photography, some modern photographers and how to take better pictures. The children were a credit to themselves and their school. Attentive, interactive, friendly and perfectly behaved. Interestingly, the school has a good number of digital camera and computers and the older pupils do photography as a part of their studies. A most interesting day. Best regards, Ken Geddes. Thank you Ken.

St Helens CC’s Tony Glover at World Expo 2010 in China!
St Helens Camera Club member Tony Glover has been accepted as one of 10 photographers to represent Liverpool at the World Expo 2010 in China. The project, designed by Davies Community Films on behalf of English Heritage, invited people living in and around Liverpool to enter a photo competition. Tony was one of those chosen and was asked to create images by photo shoot, having 10 set themes, in and around Liverpool. An unexpected feature was that they all had to use a 12M compact camera, shoot in jpeg, landscape and no manipulation save cropping!
The images will then be turned into short AVs to represent the city of Liverpool. They will be shown in the Liverpool Pavilion at the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai, which takes place from 1st May to 31st October. Liverpool is the only English city to be represented at the Expo and 70 million people are expected to attend.
Above you can see Tony’s Reflections of Liverpool which won him the place and on the right one of his shots for the presentation - Iconic Rock. You can view Tony's Expo 2010 images here. 25 April, 2010

.....is an annual battle between Crosby, Formby, Maghull and Ormskirk.

The final score was Maghull Photography Club 41, Crosby 35, Formby 34 and Ormskirk 30 and Gordon presented the Warren Trophy to Maghull's Chairman, Doug Bennison.

Nantwich CC Exhibition Opening

8th March 2010 - Over 70 people gathered at Nantwich Museum on Monday to see our President, Christine Widdall open the Nantwich CC Exhibition. The Mayor of Nantwich was there together with other councillors and members of the Museum Trust. Nantwich CC President John Dodd paid tribute to Events Secretary Wray Douglas for his staging the exhibition and thanked the Museum curator, Anne Wheeler before handing over to Christine to open the exhibition.
Christine praised the quality of the work on display and emphasized the importance of continuing the print tradition at a time when the digitally projected image was so popular. Her first week or so in office had been a busy one – this was the third event she had presided over.
Do call in to see the exhibition, which is open until Saturday 8th May; the excellent standard of work at Nantwich and the delightful museum gallery will mean you will be well rewarded. Poster also see EVENTS

Why Not Try AV?
Julie England has been in touch, telling us how they are raising the profile of AV at Joint Fylde PS (Poulton, Hassra, Lytham and sometimes Bispham and Fleetwood). They held a tutorial evening in October run by Julie together with Ron Davies, Ray Wilson and Barry Colquhoun. This was followed up last week with a non-competitive evening where each of 5 clubs had approximately a 20 minutes slot. They viewed 21 sequences – sounds like a successful venture that other clubs could try.
She hopes that the participants and many of you will go to the L&CPU AV Championships at Croston on Saturday 20th February. (310110)
