L&CPU Competitions 2010

AV, Print Challenge, PDI Challenge, Annuals

L&CPU Annuals 2010

5th July - Some numbers for you! 67 Clubs entered the Annuals and submitted a total of 2629 prints (804 Mono, 1346 Colour and 479 Nature) and 2329 Projected Images (105 were slides). 14 Clubs entered slides of which 70 were General and 35 Nature, 3 won awards.

I think we still have a few prints and slides unclaimed - I will try and get them listed here soon.

The competition rules will be reviewed at the September EC Meeting, but a few points about handling prints:-

The MAXIMUM size is 40x50cm. This is NOT the metric equivalent of 20"x16"!! it is smaller - not a lot but significantly - 20x16s can no longer be selected for the PAGB Inter-Fed, nor will they fit in the new folio boxes.

Plastic bags and "Art Folders" are not really suitable for submitting prints. The fibre boxes as sold by Nomad are ideal, being light yet strong and rigid.

Please do not overfill the boxes - it is tempting to put the last few in but a 6" deep box full of prints is as much as anyone can safely lift. Wooden boxes exacerbate the problem!

It was also said at the last EC that some members had not realised that the closing date for entries is a date by which club secretaries have to make the club entry. All entries are made through your club competition secretary and they will set an earlier date for you to hand in your entries to them.

June 20th - We are very pleased to give special mention of the YOUNG PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR RESULTS:-

1st       Sam Cartwright       Chorley P.S.     "Double Dial"
This image was our Image of the Week recently, well done Sam for that observant piece of street photography.
